Mission
Our mission is to
achieve member satisfaction by providing a variety of financial
products and services to meet our members' diverse needs while maintaining
the financial soundness of the Credit Union and the trust of the
membership.
The Credit Union’s
objective: "Your credit union will treat you with respect,
as a valued member. You can trust your credit union to look out
for your interests, because credit unions are founded on the principle
of caring about people, not just
money."

Credit Union History
This history of credit unions dates back to the
19th century, where cooperative activities in Europe started to
frame the future of finance. The same principles have stood the
test of time and helped to mold credit unions into the safe financial
institutions that they have become. Allowing credit union members
to borrow money, making loans for "prudent and productive purposes"
and showing that a person's desire to repay (character) is more
important than the ability (income) to repay. Members are, after
all, borrowing their own money and that of their friends. These
principles still govern most of the world's credit unions.
TCCU History
Fifteen members and a Federal charter to serve
the Torrance City employees began the foundation Torrance City Employees
Credit Union in September of 1958. Its first office was located
at the old city hall building on Cravens Avenue in what is described
in the archives as a closet with one employee to serve its members.
The bylaws at that time stated that the credit union would remain
open from 4 p.m. until the last member was helped.
Even though the hours have changed a bit and
we have grown from $15,000 in Assets to more than $72 million, our
standards of prompt personal service remains unchanged. Along with
a friendly teller line, private loan offices, and an on-site financial
adviser, TCCU members can access their funds from thousands of ATMs
nationwide*.
While Torrance City Employees make up the majority
of its members, the credit union began expanding its membership
in 1984 to include selected business and groups in and around Torrance,
including the Torrance Education Foundation; and thus became Torrance Community Credit Union.
And now, in 2008, the Credit Union has one more
time expanded to include all Torrance city residents and some surrounding
south bay communities in its field of membership and is now known
as Torrance Community Credit Union.
Additionally, in the Credit Union spirit of people
helping people, TCCU donates to several area charities and not-for-profit
organizations including the American Diabetes Association, Newspapers
in the Classroom, the Joseph Anzack Jr. Scholarship Fund, Blue Steele
Run fundraiser for the Special Olympics, the Torrance Armed Forces
Day Parade and many more.
TCCU is dedicated to providing its members with
the best rates, exceptional member services, and progressive and
innovative financial products in an ever-changing financial environment.
